NEXT DATE: TODAY
FROM: 10:00

The exhibition "Exceptional Textiles of Mexico" at the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade is organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Mexico in Serbia, which initiated and supported the presentation of this significant collection to the Serbian public, aiming to strengthen cultural ties and friendship between the two countries, as well as to showcase the richness of Mexican culture, tradition, and intangible heritage.

A special contribution to the organization of the exhibition was made by His Excellency, the Ambassador of Mexico to Serbia, Carlos Felix Corona, whose engagement represents an important boost to cultural cooperation between Mexico and Serbia.

The exhibition is realized in collaboration with the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, the ministries of foreign affairs and culture of Mexico and Serbia, as well as the Living Cultures, Intangible Heritage, and Interculturality Unit (UCUVI). It also forms part of the program celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Ethnographic Museum's existence and work.

The display includes 34 sets of traditional costumes and two representative textile items from the collection of the National Museum of Popular Cultures of Mexico. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the textile traditions of sixteen Mexican states and the cultural heritage of numerous indigenous peoples, including the Raramuri, Comcaac, Wixarika, Purepecha, Otomi, Nahua, Triqui, Zapotec, Maya, and others.

Special value is added to the exhibition by the unique handmade pieces, traditional embroidery, and textile techniques preserved for generations by Mexican communities, bearing witness to the strong connection between cultural identity, art, and everyday life.
